Why Financial Planning?

I have the best job. It’s the perfect mix of helping people, creative problem-solving, history, current events, finance, psychology, and leadership skills, with the amazing benefit and responsibility of being valued and trusted by clients.

My passion for this work isn't just academic; it's forged from my own life experiences. Looking back, I can see the influences clearly. I know what financial vulnerability feels like, having watched my schoolteacher mother raise my brother and me alone after my father left when I was four. I learned the hard-won value of true diversification during the global financial crisis of 2007-2008. And I’ve felt the profound pain of seeing a future cut short, losing my father-in-law to brain cancer just a few short years into his retirement.

These experiences, combined with seeing too many clients failed by "advisors" who put commission ahead of people, solidified my mission. This is why I love financial planning: I’m able to be there for clients through the good times and the bad. I know what it feels like to need someone who truly understands your story, your values, and your money, and who helps you make decisions to live the life you love.

My experience also taught me that tomorrow is never promised. We ideally shouldn't wait until "retirement" to do what we love. Financial planning is a beautiful combination of the technical and the emotional. It’s an art that must be wrought—crafted with artistry and care—to balance investing in and experiencing life now, while still setting yourself up for financial security in the future. This philosophy is the reason I founded Wrought Financial Planning, and that human intersection between money and life is what drives me.

What is Andrew like outside of work?

I am a husband and a father. You will often find my wife and I involved in or supporting our girls’ sports teams or school activities. When we have vacation time, we love to travel as a family. My favorite trip as a family was to Italy (so far!) but Kauai might take the prize as the most beautiful place I’ve seen.

I enjoy being outdoors and active. For the past 11 years, I’ve run the 10-mile Philadelphia Broad Street Run. I also took up golf a few years ago and love the physical and mental challenge. I enjoy being handy at home, skills I learned from my father-in-law, and I'm proud my enthusiasm for building has passed on to my girls. You can usually find us playing Legos together (and the path to my home office is usually mined with legos).

I love my community and each Wednesday, you’ll find me at a meeting for the Rotary Club of Haddonfield, where I am currently the Vice President. We support local and international non-profit organizations with grants, provide college and vocational scholarships to deserving students, and provide for the less fortunate. It is my way of giving back and helping Haddonfield remain the amazing place it is.

Why Financial Planning?

As a recent empty nester, with my two oldest children thriving in college and my youngest heading in that direction next year, I was excited to start a new chapter in my life. I have found it both challenging and rewarding to support Andrew in various capacities, from handling intricate financial tasks to overseeing daily operations. My diverse professional background includes marketing roles in professional services, insurance, high-tech, and the medical industry. I look forward to leveraging this broad perspective to meet the needs of our clients.

What is Lisa like outside of work?

Born and raised in Connecticut, I relocated to the Delaware Valley for college. After graduating from Villanova University, I worked in the Philadelphia/Bucks County area for several years before crossing the bridge and settling in South Jersey. For the past 20 years, I’ve lived in Haddonfield, NJ, with my husband, three children, and a very large dog named Duke. Beyond my work at Wrought, I enjoy taking on freelance graphic design projects, creating logos, posters, cards, and more for my friends, family, and colleagues.  Our family stays busy with athletic and community events, and in my free time, I enjoy exploring our beautiful hometown, hiking, cooking, and traveling.
